CASSIE HAY is a writer and documentary director whose feature debut film THE LIBERATORS (Amazon Prime) screened at SXSW and was distributed worldwide. Her second film QUEENS OF PAIN (Hulu) was co-directed with Amy Winston and premiered at Austin Film Festival.
With over twenty years of production experience under her belt, Hay’s scope of work includes major film productions (The Wolf of Wall Street, For Colored Girls), television (The Righteous Gemstones, Outer Range, Doom Patrol, The Leftovers, Bored to Death, Law & Order), commercials, and more. Her scout work was shown at the Museum of the Moving Image as part of the Martin Scorsese exhibit.
As a writer, her essays and reviews have been published in New Letters, The Literary Review, TLR Online and This Great Society. She was also a regular contributor to The Outlet/Electric Literature covering the literary scene in NYC.
Hay has also been a featured speaker at universities and organizations across the U.S.
She is a graduate in film at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts with an MFA in creative non-fiction writing from Fairleigh-Dickinson University.
Hay and Winston recently received the New York Women in Film and Television’s Excellence in Directing Award for QUEENS OF PAIN.
